August 2016 Updates from Angela
UPCOMING INSTALLATIONS
Over the next month I will be finalising details for the memorial to Sir John Tavener. The modern glass and metal sculpture will resemble a flowing stream of water, nodding to the composer’s own use of water as symbolism in his hugely spiritual compositions. The unveiling will take place on 11 November 2016 in Winchester Cathedral.
Two of my works will go on loan to Canwood Gallery in Herefordshire this fall. Rocking Lady and Sway will be on view starting 11 September. I’m pleased to be showing sculpture so close to home, and to see a welcome new exhibition space opening in the area to champion outdoor sculpture.
My sculpture Rising Universe (known locally as “The Shelley Fountain”), which was a centerpiece in the city of Horsham since the early nineties, has recently been sold by Horsham City Council to the private Manor House Westenhanger Castle in Kent. I hope to be able to share more details on the relocation soon.
PORTRAIT BOOK
I am beginning to work on a book of portraits with Unicorn Press. The book will compile all of the portraits I have ever sculpted, celebrating the occasion of the 100th. I will keep you updated on the release date, and the details as they come together.
NEW COMMISSIONS
I have been commissioned to do a portrait of Harriet Tubman for the American Museum in Britain near Bath. She is a fascinating woman in American history. It will be an exciting challenge to work on such a strong and interesting face.
I am also in the early stages of talks for new projects with Salisbury Cathedral for their 800th Anniversary in 2020, and with the Herefordshire First World War Commemoration Committee about a planned memorial.
Lets all keep in touch.
Greetings,
Angela
